As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve and have an impact in Alberta, we want to ensure we are doing our part to keep our clients and members of our firm safe, and to minimize the risk of any possible transmission in the communities where we live and work. We are monitoring the situation closely and are prepared to respond to the rapidly changing nature of this pandemic.

In an effort to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, it is the responsibility of all to limit social contact. This means that we will all have to adapt to the way business is conducted.

JMM Law will continue to provide legal services, however, we will be limiting in-person meetings. Our lawyers will meet with clients who have pre-arranged the meeting with the lawyer.

Our offices will be closed to all persons that have not arranged an appointment with one of our lawyers.

If you have scheduled an appointment with one of our firm's lawyers, please telephone our firm's receptionist (403-346-5591) and a lawyer will arrange to forthwith meet you at the elevator and allow you access to our offices for the meeting.

If you do not have an appointment but wish to speak with our lawyers, please call our receptionist at the above number and we will do our best to help you.

Our lawyers will continue to be available by telephone and e-mail.

Should physical delivery of documents be required, please notify your lawyer to make safe arrangements for delivery.

During these unprecedented times, we will take all appropriate measures to continue to provide the services you need, when you need them. You will be notified when our office is once again open to the public.

We sincerely hope that you, your families and your businesses remain healthy and safe during this crisis. Do not hesitate to contact your lawyer in this firm if you have any questions. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we continue to serve your needs.

Dave Manning and Keith Lamb of Johnston Ming Manning LLP of Red Deer and Joe Lehane and Monty Wild of Miller Lehane & Wild are pleased to announce that Johnston Ming Manning (Innisfail) LLP has acquired the law firm of Miller Lehane & Wild in Innisfail effective January 1, 2015.

Johnston Ming Manning LLP was established in the City of Red Deer in 1953 and has continuously provided legal services to Red Deer and Central Alberta for over 60 years. The law firm currently has 11 lawyers and 2 articling students and a further articling student soon to join their ranks. The Innisfail subsidiary will be known as Johnston Ming Manning (Innisfail) LLP and will operate from the former offices of Miller Lehane & Wild.

Miller Lehane & Wild in Innisfail was established in 1977. The current lawyers, Joe Lehane and Monty Wild, have over 80 years of combined experience and will continue to provide legal services together with the lawyers from Johnston Ming Manning (Innisfail) LLP.

Both of these law firms have been long-time members of Central Alberta's legal business and agricultural community. The new law firm will continue to provide a full range of legal services to Innisfail and the Central Alberta community.

The well-trained, talented and personable support staff and legal assistants working with both law firms will continue to work for the new combined law firm to help meet the needs of all of their clients. One of our partners, BRAD BALON was a volunteer at the Piper Creek Optimist Club of Red Deer's 2nd Annual Suitcase Party in 2014.

On February 21, 2014 the Piper Creek Optimist Club of Red Deer hosted its 2nd Annual Suitcase Party, with all funds raised going to various youth causes in Red Deer. Brad Balon volunteered to head the silent auction table at this fundraiser event. The event was a sell out with more than two hundred and fifteen people in attendance.

Brad has been an active member of the Piper Creek Optimist Club of Red Deer since 2008, and has volunteered in many various roles within the club including sitting on the board of directors as well as heading various sub-committees.

Law Day 2013

Johnston Ming Manning LLP is proud to be the organizer of Law Day 2013, on behalf of the Central Alberta Bar Association.

Law Day is a national celebration and commemoration of our nation's adoption of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The Canadian Bar Association and its provincial branches continue to use Law Day to increase public awareness, knowledge and understanding of our laws and legal system. Law Day promotes access to justice and highlights the lawyers and legal resources that serve our community.

Join us on Saturday April 13, 2013 from 9:30am to 3:00pm at the Court House in Red Deer to celebrate Canada's legal system and the organizations that provide legal assistance and information in our community. This is a family-friendly, free event, with activities, displays and tours for all ages. Highlights include:

presentations from the Alberta Corrections Drug Detection Team (and their dog, Chazz);
the fun trial of "Buccaneer Bill" on charges of piracy;
art activities;
gathering clues to solve "The Mystery of the Missing Library Book";
tours of the Court House, including holding cells and library, which are not normally open to the public;
"Ask A Lawyer" allows you time for a one-on-one discussion with a lawyer regarding issues that concern you.

Andrew J. Luft Speaking At The UofC

This event is on October 18th. The purpose of this panel is to raise awareness of opportunities in rural Alberta for future lawyers. Andrew is humbled by this opportunity to speak and hopes he can contribute to the inspiration of new young lawyers.
